GUWAHATI: The hunt for land brokers continued today, leading to the arrest of many of them. The police produced the arrested brokers before the court that rejected their bail pleas. The police said that many land brokers went underground. Chief Minister reiterated, "It is the beginning. This drive will continue in each office."
State BJP president Bhabesh Kalita termed the drive against land brokers as an indiscriminate move. "If a person gets identified as a land broker, the police will arrest him, no matter what political affiliation he has," he said.
The two land brokers of Algapur who had been set free after the intervention of an AIUDF MLA got arrested again last night. As many as 520 land brokers got arrested last night. The target list has 700 land brokers.
