Illegal Coal Mining in Margherita: FIR lodged against Police Officer

TINSUKIA: To fight against illegal coal mining in the Dihing Patkai belt under Margherita subdivision, Manuranjan Borgohain, APCC spokesperson for Upper Assam, lodged an FIR against Munindra Nath Chamua, Officer-in-Charge of Margherita Police Station on Saturday. A case no 172/2020 has been registered against them u/s 468/471/420/34 of IPC for his alleged involvement in illegal trafficking of coal.

The FIR stated that Munindra Nath Chamua allegedly issued forged transit pass and facilitated the movement of illegal coal-laden trucks.

Demanding a high-level inquiry, Borgohain stated that he would produce all documentary evidences, including video footage, before the Court.

Manuranjan Borgohain has confirmed that he filed the afore-mentioned case in Margherita Police Station.
