Indian Tea Exports Rise by 29 Million Kg from January to September 2024

Indian tea exports have registered an increase of nearly 29 million kg in the period from January to September 2024 when compared to the tea exports in the same period during 2023.

Guwahati: Indian tea exports have registered an increase of nearly 29 million kg in the period from January to September 2024 when compared to the tea exports in the same period during 2023.

This was disclosed in a Tea Board of India report on region-wise tea exports during 2024 (Jan-Sep) released on Thursday.

According to the report, the country as a whole exported a quantity of 190.08 million kg of tea during the period from January to September 2024. Of this, the North India zone exported 110.69 million kg while the South India zone exported tea to the tune of 79.39 million kg. Tea exports from the country as a whole this year fetched a unit price of Rs 266.45 per kg, on average.

Last year, in the period from January to September, India exported a quantity of 161.26 million kg, thereby registering an increase of 28.82 million kg this year. Of the total quantity of 161.26 million kg, the North India zone exported 97.96 million kg of tea, while the South India zone exported 63.30 million kg.

The tea exported from Assam, NE, and West Bengal is included in the North India zone.

The Tea Board report also stated that, in the calendar year of 2023, the country exported a total of 231.69 million kg, with a unit price of Rs 265.91 per kg of tea. In 2022, the country as a whole exported 231.08 million kg with a unit price of Rs 275.21 on average.
