Information About How to Store Vehicle Documents in Mobile App

Instead of carrying your vehicle papers as such, you can now easily store them in an app. ‘mParivahan’ application is a government app for all-India RTO (Regional Transport Office) vehicle registration number search. It can be downloaded from the Google Playstore. The app provides ‘Transport Service’ access to citizens through a mobile-based application, available on both Android and iOS platforms. It empowers citizens with instant access to various information, services and utilities related to the Transport Sector. It aims to bring convenience to citizens and transparency in the system.

Developed by NIC, mParivahan app can be used for easy access to important documents like driving licence, vehicle registration certificate, insurance validity, among other things.

You can search for any vehicle registration certificate (RC) or a driving licence (DL) after putting its details on the app. If you want to save your documents on the mParivahan app, you will have to register yourself.

The app also has a feature to create virtual RC and DL, which is considered an authentic proof. In other words, you don’t need to carry original documents for these two. There’s also a DL mock test feature in the app for those who want to apply for new driving licence.

To create a virtual RC or DL one has to go through the registration process, which itself is fairly simple. One has to key in one’s phone number and name, which is followed by an OTP verification. Creating a virtual RC or DL is also easy and can be added to a dashboard. However, to keep details secure one has to verify them by entering the last four digits of the vehicle’s chassis number and the engine number. Saved RC and DL can be found under the respective dashboards within the app and there’s also an option to share the virtual IDs. To save the documents, just navigate to ‘My RC’ and ‘My DL’ sections.

The authority will be able to verify your DL details using the QR Code.
