Do you belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)? If so, you can avail of reservations for employment and admission into educational institutions despite belonging to the general category.

However, you will have to fulfil the criterion. An EWS family under the Central EWS quota should not possess—

(i) More than five acres of agricultural land,

(ii) Residential flat exceeding 1,000 sq ft,

(iii) Residential area exceeding 100 sq yards in notified municipalities, and

(iv) Residential plots exceeding 100 yards in areas other than notified municipalities.

An EWS family under the State quota should not possess –

(i) More than 15 bighas of agricultural land,

(ii) More than one bigha of residential land, and

iii) More than 1.5 Katha of land in municipal corporation, board and town committee or built-up area more than 1,000 sq ft.

Income and asset certificates issued by the revenue circle officer concerned should corroborate the landed property. The applicants have to apply for this categorization to their revenue circle officers with the necessary documents – family income certificate, property details, parents' identity proofs, educational documents of students, an affidavit of a declaration by the candidate, mother/wife's income declaration and the bank statement.
