GUWAHATI, Feb 10: The State Governor has issued a notification on the regularisation of the services of contractual teachers and state pool contractual teachers in the Department of School Education.

On January 23, 2023, the cabinet took the decision to regularise the services of contractual and state pool teachers of schools that would get an A+ grade in two successive gunotsavs since 2022.

In recognition of the services extended by the contractual teachers and state pool contractual teachers under the SSA that enabled his/her serving school to secure Grade A+ in Gunotsav during the years 2022 and 2023 consecutively in the same serving school, the Governor accorded approval to the policy of performance-based regularisation of the services of contractual and state pool teachers under the SSA (Samagra Shiksha, Assam). "The services of the identified contractual teachers shall be regularised in the vacancies arising out of the yearly retirement of regular teachers and other vacancies." The services of the identified contractual teachers, upon being regularized, will be governed by the service rules and procedures applicable to the regular teachers of the state. On regularisation of the identified contractual teachers, the date of their joining as regular teachers will be the date of the order of regularisation of their services. "The process of regularisation shall be guided by the modalities to be notified separately," the notification said.

The state has around 35,000 contractual and state pool teachers. As many as 4,826 schools got an A at Gunotsav last year. Around 6,000 contractual and state-pool teachers are working in these schools
