GUWAHATI: Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, the deputy leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, has made it to the all-powerful CWC (Congress Working Committee) as one of its members.

AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge reconstituted the Congress Working Committee (CWC) with 39 members.

The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) welcomed Gaurav Gogoi upon his arrival at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport today.

Speaking to the media at the airport, Gogoi said, “I thank party president Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP’s (Congress Parliamentary Party) chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and former AICC president Rahul Gandhi, besides the senior leaders of the party. I will try my best as a member of the CWC from one of the northeastern states. I will take what my father taught me to the people and work for keeping the ideology of the Congress intact amidst its ups and downs, taking the party to the people, and restoring peace in Assam. The responsibility to perform as a member of the CWC is a collective one for all Congress leaders and cadres in the state. I thank the thousands of Congress workers in the state for what I have achieved in the party now. It is the outcome of their efforts. I hope to live up to the expectations of the party workers and the people of the state. The party has given me responsibility for the screening committee for the Rajasthan Assembly election. I never worked to get a personal position in the party. The party has given me enough. I never expected to get such a position in the party in such a shorter period.”

APCC president Bhupen Borah will felicitate Gaurav Gogoi at Rajiv Bhawan on Monday.
