GUWAHATI: The Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee has decided not to organize the Ambubachi Mela this year as well. The Ambubachi is scheduled from June 22-26.

Taking the COVID-19 situation in the state into consideration, the Kamakhya Devalaya will remain closed till June 30 for devotees, including sadhus and sanyashis. The Ambubachi Mela was cancelled in 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The temple has been closed since May 13 this year given the surge in COVID-19 cases in the State. In a statement, the temple authority, however, said that only rituals will be performed inside the temple by the priests.

The temple authority also said that it will not allow any visitors and pilgrims to visit the temple during the Ambubachi period, and no facility will be provided for food and lodging to any devotees.
