GUWAHATI: After closing its doors to devotees on May 13, 2021, following the outbreak of the second wave of coronavirus, Kamakhya Temple will reopen from Wednesday.

According to the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Government of Assam on Tuesday, up to 20 fully vaccinated persons can be allowed per hour in iconic religious places, and 10 fully vaccinated persons per hour will be allowed in other religious places.

Following the latest SOP, the Kamakhya Devalaya authority has decided to allow 20 fully vaccinated devotees to visit the temple per hour from Wednesday. The authority strictly stated that devotees would have to wear masks and maintain physical distance inside the Devalaya premises. The temple will open after the morning puja. At 1 pm the temple doors will close for an hour. Devotees will again be allowed into the temple premises from 2 pm till sunset.
