Lodge FIR if you find anomalies in work: Dass

GUWAHATI: Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has appealed to the people to lodge FIRs in their nearest police stations if they find any irregularities or corruption while implementing schemes under panchayats.

Talking to The Sentinel today, Dass said, "The present team of ministers led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath on May 10, 2021, with a vision to develop Assam. We need to work hard to achieve the goal of a 'developed Assam'.

"The state will develop only when its rural areas develop. And panchayats have a significant role to play in rural development. It is the reason why the government pumps in funds for various development schemes under panchayats.

"The government will not tolerate any corruption under panchayats. The P&RD terminated the jobs of five engineers and suspended some other officials of Borkhetri Panchayat. The police arrested a Block Development Officer (BDO) in Barak Valley.

"People need to keep an eye works under panchayats and lodge FIR in their nearest police stations if they find any anomalies or corruption."
