GUWAHATI: State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass told the Assam Assembly that if anybody sees people taking money from the PMAY (G) beneficiaries, they should lodge an FIR immediately. During the cut motion on Rural Development today, some Opposition MLAs alleged that some panchayat members were collecting money from PMAY (G) beneficiaries.
Dass said, "The department has already suspended around 100 employees and officials. Even some are in jails. If anybody took money from PMAY (G), lodge an FIR with the police and send a complaint to the department with specific proof. This government accords top priority to rural development. So far, 9.07 lakh PMAY (G) houses have been completed and 9.21 lakh are going on in the state. The ongoing houses will be completed by March 2024. The department completed 5.14 lakh PMAY-G houses in the past 22 months. This is a remarkable achievement."
