Majuli Bye-Poll: BJP retains seat

GUWAHATI: BJP candidate Bhuban Gam won the Majuli bye-election by defeating his nearest AJP rival candidate Chittaranjan Basumatary with a margin of 42,141 votes.

While Gam secured 67,242 votes, Basumatary secured 25,101 votes, and SUCI candidate Bhaity Richong secured 2,265 votes.

As many as 1,642 voters opted for the NOTA (None of the above) provision. The total votes cast in the bye-election were 96,250.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nitin Khade thanked all stakeholders for the conduct of the bye-poll in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
