Mastermind of JEE (Main) Exam scam Bhargav Deka in police remand

GUWAHATI: The CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) Court here on Monday sent Bhargav Deka — the mastermind of the JEE (Main) Exam scam in the city – to seven-day Police custody. Earlier, the Court had rejected Bhargav's bail plea.

Meanwhile, Police sources informed that Bhargav wept during his interrogation. He reportedly told the interrogating officials that he was "not directly involved" in the scam. It has been also learnt that there is a likelihood of Deka being interrogated in front of the already arrested 'State topper' candidate Neel Nakshatra Das and his father — DrJyotirmoy Das. Bhargav, however, told the officials that many people are involved in the deals.

Bhargav is the owner of Global Edu Light at Ambari here. Neel was a candidate of this institute.

Meanwhile, another police source said that the proxy candidate appeared in place of Neel at the Borjhar-based 'Ion Digital Centre' where the JEE (Mains) Exam was held in the city.
