Motor Vehicle Inspector, 2 others caught by Nagaon police

NAGAON: The Nagaon police led by SP Anand Mishra arrested Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Hemen Das and other two employees of the Nagaon District Transport Office – Pranab Mahanta and Balawanta Kour – for accepting bribes of Rs 35,000 today.

Nagaon police sources claimed that MVI Das, along with the other two employees, demanded the money from a vehicle owner to issue a fitness certificate for his vehicle. When MVI Das and others accepted the bribe from the vehicle owner, police caught them red-handed. Police subsequently registered a case in this regard. Further investigation is on.
