New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced that nearly 1.4 lakh FASTag users availed its newly launched annual toll pass within the first 24 hours of rollout. A similar number of transactions were recorded on Day One, marking a robust start for the scheme, which came into effect from Thursday midnight across national highways (NHs) and national expressways (NEs).
According to NHAI, the facility has been enabled across 1,150 toll plazas nationwide. At any given time, between 20,000 to 25,000 users were actively engaging with the Rajmargyatra App, which notifies annual pass holders of “zero toll fee deductions” through SMS alerts.
To ensure smooth implementation, NHAI has deployed dedicated officials at every toll plaza and strengthened its grievance redressal mechanism. Over 100 additional executives have been added to the 1033 NH helpline, while customer queries are being addressed through multiple digital and offline platforms. The new annual pass is designed exclusively for non-commercial vehicles with valid FASTags. For a one-time payment of ₹3,000, users can avail unlimited travel, valid for either one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever is earlier. The pass becomes active within two hours of payment, which can be made via the Rajmargyatra App or the official NHAI website.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving commuter convenience, reducing recharge-related hassles, and further streamlining India’s digital tolling system as the highway network continues to expand.
