GUWAHATI: At a time when the marathon grilling of the nine arrested people, including seven police officials, was going on, the CID today recovered a laptop and 23 sheets of signed cheques from the house of the owner of a tea shop near the Bajali SP office.

According to sources, arrested home guard Deepjoy Roy gave a bag to the shopkeeper a few days ago. The bag had the sheets of cheques inside it. The CID detained the shopkeeper for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the name of another supari trader, who is very close to arrested SP Siddhartha Buragohain, has also figured in the episode. The CID is on the trail of the supari trader.

The CID is also grilling the owner of an electronic shop in connection with the case. Arrested home guard Deepjoy Roy gave him a laptop to check the software.
