No change in power tariff

Guwahati, July 24: The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission has not revised the power tariff. The same tariff will be effective from August 1 this year, though the commission "found it necessary" to reduce energy charges for Lt Agriculture category as it is already high considering high ture of use. "The revised revenue requirement approved by the commission for APDCL for the year 2015–16 works out to Rs 4387.89 crore, with a revenue gap of Rs 1.34 crore which should be met by APDCL through prudent performance improvement measures. Therefore the commission has not found it prudent to revise existing fixed/demand charges and energy charges as proposed by the APDCL at this stage," a press note from the commission said.
