GUWAHATI: Covid-19 spike in the state has become steep in Baksa, Dibrugarh and Goalpara districts, besides Kamrup (M).

According to an analysis of new Covid-19 cases in the last ten days from July 14 to 23, Baksa reported the highest number of positive cases (483), followed by Dibrugarh (467), Goalpara (460) and Kamrup-M (442).

A few other districts that reported over 200 Covid-19 cases in the past ten days are Kamrup (366), Nagaon (343), Sonitpur (263), Barpeta (242), Jorhat (240), Dhubri (229), Cachar (226) and Sivasagar (212).

The health fraternity detected as many as 736 new Covid-19 cases in the state on July 23, registering a positivity rate of 10.77 per cent. Dibrugarh had the highest number of cases (89) yesterday. The number of active Covid-19 cases in the state was 6,107 yesterday.

Meanwhile, the health fraternity administered 4,79,12,853 vaccine doses – 2,46,07,697 first doses, 2,16,59,399 second doses and 16,45,757 precaution doses – in the state till 8.30 this evening.

The health fraternity detected 113 new Covid cases, including 18 in Kamrup-M, and registered a positivity rate of 10.29 per cent on Sunday. One person died of Covid today.
