Oil theft exposed

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
BONGAIGAON, March 8: A case of oil theft was exposed in the fire accident that occurred in Chapaguri area of Chirang district on March 5 where 10 oil tankers and two coal-laden trucks were destroyed. Local people of the area have complained that the place where the fire broke out was a secret camp of oil thieves where mixing of kerosene with diesel and petrol was done and stored illegally. “In appearance it looks like a saw mill but actually oil tankers from IOCL, Bongaigaon are parked here inside this barricaded place where a portion of petrol and diesel are taken out from the sealed tankers.  This portion is mixed with kerosene.  Drivers of the tankers are paid a good amount.  This mixing of kerosene with petrol is done here by a gang of oil thieves. We suspect the gang works with the cooperation of high-level administrative and police officials,” said the people.
