GUWAHATI: State Government employees who are conferred the Lok Sewa Puraskar (Public Service Award) every year will get a service extension of one year. This means that their retirement age will be 61 instead of 60. The government has taken this decision to recognize the Lok Sewa Puraskar awardees for their dedication and sincerity and to inspire other employees.
The Lok Sewa Puraskar was conferred on government employees for their work ethics, dedication, intergrity, and punctuality for the first time on August 5, 2022, on the occasion of Lok Kalyan Diwas to mark the death anniversary of Assam’s first Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi.
A source in the General Administration Department (GAD) said that the government has issued a notification regarding the one-year service extension of Lok Sewa Puraskar awardees. The award also carries a citation and Rs. 25,000. The selection process for this year’s Lok Sewa Puraskar awardees has started at the state and district levels. The award will be conferred on August 5. At the state level, 10 employees will receive this award. They will be selected from among the Assam Secretariat employees and employees in the directorate offices in Guwahati.
