GUWAHATI: At last, ONGC Ltd has decided to cap the leaking oil well (RDS 147A) forever.

ONGC has four alternative plans to tackle gas leakage disasters. After the leakage of gas on June 12, ONGC tried its plan A to plug the leakage with mud but failed. It then made an attempt to plug the leak with some materials, but that too failed. Now, ONGC is going to advance with the more practical and safer strategy to cap the leak forever. A team of experts from the US will arrive today. The team starts to cap the leak tomorrow and will accomplish the job in five to six days.

Both the government of India and the government of Assam have been monitoring the situation 24/7 and are fully committed to ensuring safety, restoring normalcy and resolving the issue at the earliest.

ONGC informed the state government that it would compensate for the loss the people of the nearby areas had to suffer.
