GUWAHATI: The Operational Group meeting chaired by Lt Gen. Ravin Khosla, GOC Gajraj Corps was held at Narangi Cantonment on Saturday. It was attended by the DGP Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Commissioner & Secretary (Home & Political) and other important functionaries of Army, State Administration, SDGP (Law & Order), ADGP (Security), ADGP (SB), Joint Director SIB and representatives of BSF, CRPF and SSB.

As part of the Unified Headquarters Mechanism established in Assam in the early 90s, the Strategy Group functions under the Chief Secretary and the Operational Group is headed by the Tezpur based GOC, 4 Corps. The Operational Group is responsible for formulating and streamlining the conduct of CI/CT (Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism) Operations at the operational and tactical levels. The smooth and efficient functioning of the mechanism has resulted in greater synergy between the administration and the security forces, resulting in the overall improvement of the CI/CT situation in Assam.

The Operational Group meeting reviewed the prevailing security situation in the entire North East and Assam in particular. The meeting also emphasised the need for proactive measures to avoid any adverse law-and-order situation. Aspects of Intelligence, Law & Order, CI/CT operations and social media were deliberated at length and measures coordinated to ensure an incident free environment in the State, stated a release.
