Police probe Orlando shooter's IS links

Washington, June 13: A day after a gunman shot dead 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, police on Monday were investigating the attacker’s ties to the Islamic State (IS) terror group. Afghan-origin Omar Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce, Florida, carried an assault rifle and a pistol into the packed Pulse club on Sunday and started the deadliest mass shooting in US history. During the attack, Mateen called 911 to pledge allegiance to IS and mentioned the Boston Marathon bombers - Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarev.The IS has said it was behind the attack, but the extent of its involvement is not clear.
