Popular Front of India leader Aminul Hoque and aide Mozammil Hoque arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Kamrup Police with the help of Guwahati Police arrested two activists of the PFI (Popular Front of India) in the city on Wednesday night. They are Aminul Hoque, the president of PFI Assam unit, and Mozammil Hoque — office assistant of the organization. Both were arrested following a case that was registered at Rangia Police Station alleging that they had been involved in cases of arson during the anti-CAA stir in the State recently, informed police. The raid was carried out at the Bhetapara office of PFI here. The raid comes close on heels of Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pinpointing PFI activists to be involved in violence and arson across the State during the anti-CAA agitation.
