Population boom hinders development and social harmony: Giriraj Singh

GUWAHATI: Begusarai MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh termed the population explosion as the biggest obstacle in development and said that population control law is very important for the development of the country on the path of progress.

Giriraj Singh said through live on the page of Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation on Tuesday night that 20 per cent of the world's population is in India. While land is less than two per cent and water is less than four per cent, natural resources are being exploited by the growing population. "Water level is declining by more than three-and-a-half per cent every year, 70 per cent of India's water is polluted, only ten per cent people are getting pure water, by 2030 it will be difficult to get it. Everyone is troubled by India's growing population, to overcome the population explosion that has become the biggest impediment in the development of the country; the Northeast Chapter of Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation is awakening the people," said Singh.

"On 15 August, when the Prime Minister discussed the increasing pressure of population, people started protesting. Today when China built a toilet in the mosque, Rahul Gandhi was silent. When the Rohingya terror took place in Myanmar, there were processions in Delhi and Mumbai. But on the Bangalore case, Congress remained silent. This vote bank politics is a blow to India's cultural nationalism," the minister added.

Giriraj Singh further stated that enacting the Population Control Act is the ultimate goal of my life. "If the law is not made then it is a hindrance for the development and social harmony of the country. Wherever the Sanatani population fell within India, the social balance deteriorated. Religious fanaticism is a threat to cultural nationalism, casteism is weakening Sanatan. We follow the policy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and they talk of Gajwa-e-Hind. If Pakistan is sending terrorism to India for Gajwa-e-Hind then the people who take out the procession are silent. The court was opened at midnight while hanging Afzal Guru. But when the other class is tortured, no one is vocal about it," he said.

Giriraj Singh has also urged the people of India to stay back at home amid pandemic situation and aware them about the importance of the population control through technology and social media. "The country's population was 135 crore in 2014, which increased to 137 crore in 2020, therefore to raise unity and cultural nationalism to height and social harmony, awareness of population control law is necessary," Giriraj Singh added further. This has been stated in a press release by Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation, Northeast Chapter.
