Pre-matric scholarship for Scheduled Caste and others

Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment pays pre-matric scholarships to Scheduled Caste and other disadvantaged-category students. The scheme for the academic session 2022-23 aims at preventing school dropout by students during their transition from elementary to the secondary stage.

Eligibility: Pre-metric scholarship is for SC students studying full-time in Classes IX and X whose parents' or guardians' annual income is Rs 2.50 lakh per annum or below. Day scholars of such students get Rs 3,500 per annum, and hostellers get Rs 7,000 per annum.

Students' parents/guardians engaged in unclean and hazardous occupations will also get this annual scholarship provided their ward or wards study full-time from Class I-X. This scholarship has no family income ceiling. The scholarship amount is Rs 8,000 per annum for Classes III-X. The ministry opened its portal for registration – https://scholarship.gov.in/
