Preparations for annual Budget: Departments of Assam government submit estimates

GUWAHATI: The State Finance Department has started the preparations of the Annual Budget for fiscal 2023-24. As part of this, the departments of the State Government have submitted their budget estimates to the Finance department.

The Budget session will start on the 10th of March, and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is to table the Budget on the 16th of March.

The Finance Department issued some key points to all departments earlier for the preparation of budgetary estimates. The departments submitted their proposals based on the key points.

According to Finance Department sources, the departments that have no allocations under the SOPD (State-Owned Priority Development) in the current Budget will not get any allocations under this head in the next annual Budget also. According to sources, the Finance Department is likely to provide the status of the implementation of budget announcements for fiscal 2021–22 in the Budget Session. The Finance Department has asked all the departments to submit their status of the implementation of budget announcements by February 20.
