GUWAHATI: The Assam Police will become the ninth state police force in the country to be bestowed with the President Colour Award, also known as the 'President Nishaan' Award.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will give away this award to the Assam Police on May 10, when the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government will complete a year. It is an acknowledgement of the meritorious services of the state police force.
This award is an emblem to be worn by all police officers on the left-hand sleeve of their uniform. This award proves that the State Police ranks high in the services of humanity, professionalism, integrity and other parameters in policing.
