GUWAHATI: President of India Ram Nath Kovind will come to Assam on a three-day visit from February 25. The state Cabinet approved the programme schedule of the President during his visit to the state.

Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting today, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The President will lay the foundation of stone of the war memorial of the Battle of Alaboi (a war between Mughals and Ahoms) at Dadara in the Kamrup district on February 25. On the day, he will lay the foundation for the renovation of Lachit Barphukan's samadhi in Jorhat. On February 26, he will take part in Tezpur Central University's convocation. He will review the conservation measures taken by the State Government at the Kaziranga National Park in the evening of February 26."

The Chief Minister said that the government would observe the year-long 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan in Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat with the participation of the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister and the Home Minister.
