GUWAHATI: The State government is going to declare Urpad Beel in the Agia area of the Goalpara district as a conservation reserve and wildlife sanctuary. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this in response to some images of the beel clicked by Sachin Bharali and uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) in the page of Life in Northeast India that termed the beel Pink Patadise. The Chief Minister wrote on X, “Spreading over 500+ hectares, Urpad Beel is a stunning, must-see wetland. We are in the process of declaring this a conservation reserve or wildlife sanctuary”.
