GUWAHATI: "The government is ready to talk with the agitating farmers. Let the discussion on the farm laws be clause by clause," said Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar.

Addressing the media after inaugurating the 'Media Centre' of the State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) at Khanapara here on Thursday, the Union Minister added, "Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has repeatedly said that the government is ready to talk with the farmers on the farm laws. If there is any anti-farmer clause in any of these three Acts, the government is ready to discuss the point(s) in depth with the farmers. I am also in constant touch with the farmers unions in this regard."

As the State BJP in-charge of election in Assam, Tomar declared, "The BJP will romp back to power with more seats in the State. Usually, anti-incumbency wave affects any party that has been in power for five years. But, that has not happened in Assam. In its place, there is a very strong pro-incumbency wave here. This is primarily because of the positive and constructive functioning of the Sarbananda Sonowal-led government."

Tomar added, "The masses are well aware of the situation in the State during the previous regime of the Congress party in Assam: Corruption ruled the roost; and there was zero development. Besides, the law-and-order scenario was at its worst.

"But after the BJP government took over the reins of power in Assam, things started taking a U turn. Now, the rule of law is established and corruption being tackled head on. Various development activities are getting accelerated."

He further said, "Prime Minister Modiji is focusing on putting on a fast track the overall progress of Northeast India."

On sharing of seats with alliance parties during the Assam elections, Tomar said, "Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowalji will place the suggestions of the State BJP before the party's central committee, which will take the final decisions."

In the morning hours, Tomar offered his prayers at the Kamakhya Temple. After that, he had a detailed discussion on the State polls with the party's constituency in-charges and mandal presidents at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra here. During this organizational meeting, Tomar also launched 'MY BJP' — the mobile app of Assam Pradesh BJP.

Among those present at the press briefing were the organizational in-charge of State BJP and national vice president of the party Baijayant Panda, BJP national general secretary Dilip Saikia, and party's State president Ranjeet Kumar Das.
