GUWAHATI: NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) will construct seven flyovers and a ROB (road overbridge) in the Pathsala-Nagaon stretch of the East-West Corridor for smooth traffic management.

According to the Guwahati office of NHAI, the traffic flow on the East-West Corridor is increasing in the Pathsala-Nagaon stretch. And that prompted the NHAI to take this decision. The flyovers will come up at the spots where traffic congestion is alarming.

The spots where the seven flyovers will come up are Pathsala, Baihata Chariali on the Rangiya side, Baihata Chariali on the Guwahati side, Raha, Dimow Chariali, Kathiatali and Borghat. Raha, Dimow Chariali, Kathiatali and Borghat are in the Nagaon District. The ROB will come up at Jagiraod in the Morigaon district.

NHAI sources here said that it would complete the tendering process by this financial year. The two flyovers at Baihata Chariali will come up at the two spots that are vulnerable to accidents.

Earlier, NHAI floated tenders for the four flyovers and a vehicular underpass in the Jalukbari-Basistha Chariali stretch of the six-lane East-West Corridor in Guwahati. The four flyovers will come up at Boragaon, Gorchuk, Lokhra and Basistha Chariali. The vehicular underpass will be at Beharbari Point. The estimated cost of these four flyovers and the vehicular underpass is Rs 356.02 crore.
