Child Trafficking: Sex-change racket by transgenders unearthed in Assam, six arrested

GUWAHATI: A transgender trafficking racket in assam has come to light that is luring children and youths on the pretext of jobs. According to reports, the child trafficking racket is castrating children and youths from the financially weaker sections of society. The police stated that the victims are taken to the national capital on the pretext of jobs and are later forced to undergo sex-change surgery.

After the surgery, they are engaged in sex work and begging for a few days. Later, they are sent to Assam and are deputed in different places, mostly for begging purposes.

This human trafficking racket was brought to light by a youth from Assam who escaped from Delhi after becoming a victim of the racket. After receiving a complaint from the victim, the DGP (Director General of Police) has directed the City Police to conduct an investigation.

In this connection, as many as six transgenders were apprehended from the Gandhi Basti area under Chandmari Police Station on Monday night. The victim has lodged the following case at the All Women Police Station Panbazar — 161/21 u/s 420/370 (A)/120 (B) r/w section 6 of IT (P) Act).
