Silchar NIT tense, students staged protests

SILCHAR: The suicide of a B. Tech. fifth semester student triggered protests in Silchar NIT today. Agitated students vandalized the quarters as well as the vehicle of B. K. Roy, the Dean, alleging that he had mentally tortured Koch Baker, the student who hanged himself inside his room at hostel Number 7. Baker’s body was found inside the room on Friday night. The agitated students marched towards Roy’s quarters and started pelting stones. DC Rohan Kumar Jha and SP Nomal Mahatta rushed to the NIT. A posse of CRPF has been deployed there.
