NAGAON: Connecting Silghat and Nagaon stations directly to Kolkata in West Bengal, the Kaziranga Express was finally flagged off on Tuesday from Silghat Railway Station by Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain.
In his inaugural speech, Gohain said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi accorded top priority to swift development in almost all sectors, including road and railway connectivity in the entire zone. Due to this, Nagaon and Silghat were directly connected on Tuesday morning with the capital city of West Bengal. Highlighting various schemes sponsored for the quick development of the zone by the BJP-led Union Government, Gohain said that another rail road would be constructed from Salna railway station to Sivasagar connecting Khumtai in Golaghat soon.
For swift movement of trains in the entire State, the BJP-led Union Government was trying its best to introduce double rail tracks in the entire State and also to construct more railway bridges over the mighty Brahmaputra.
In the flagging off function, State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta and other leaders of the BJP and top officials of NF Railway were present. Gohain along with top railway officials travelled in the train till Nagaon station where he was welcomed by local MLA Rupak Sarma and party workers.
