Special Branch connection gives new direction to investigation Drug cartel

GUWAHATI: Information emanating from the State police give an impression that a drug cartel has all along been run by sharing intelligence input from the Special Branch, the nerve centre of the State police force. If such information have anything to go by, only God can save this State from the social decadence that is out to destroy her youth power.

SI (UB) of the Special Branch (SB) MussadiqueHussain was arrested by the sleuths of the Crime Branch on the charge of his involvement in drug business in the State on March 10, 2021. He was arrested following leads obtained from the mobile handsets of drug paddlers – ManoharPradhan and JenetRamhnemkimTulor.

The latest information being emanated from sources in the State police corroborate the involvement of SI Hussain in the drug cartel. What seems to be fraught with danger is the fact that Hussain was working in the cyber-doom of the Special Branch from where he could have got prior intelligence inputs. Since the police sources claim to have established the link of Hussain with a drug cartel, there is every reason to believe that he might have shared intelligence inputs with the drug cartel.

What corroborates such a possibility is the fact that the bank accounts of Hussain that were seized by the investigators show numerous payments made through google pay, net banking etc., police sources said. Where did such money come from? There are even reports from sources in the State police force that a number of such payments through google pay were made from Manipur, a State thought to be a den for drug mafia.

Even though nothing tangible can be said right now, the latest findings are sure to help the investigators delve deep into the matter to come out with concrete facts and evidences that can help uproot the cartel.

This is not the only case that makes one point his or her finger at the SB. Gopi Sharma, a retired SI from the SB, was also arrested along with three packets of brown sugar on March 10 in the city. What does it smack of? This is something that needs to be thoroughly probed.
