State cases cross 4,000; 1,960 patients recover: Assam COVID-19 update

GUWAHATI: Assam on Sunday recorded 149 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the tally of total infected persons to 4,049 with eight of them died. Altogether 1,960 patients (155 on Sunday) have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The total active patients in the State as of now were 1,972

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said it has taken only 8.8 days to double number of infected persons from 1800 to 3600. He said the highest spike took place on June 4 when the State recorded 285 new cases.

The first COVID-19 positive case was reported on March 31; and the first death took place on April 10. Altogether 100 positive cases were confirmed on May 17, 1000 on May 29, 2000 on June 4 and 3000 on June 9.
