Super speciality hospital gets response on Day 1

GUWAHATI: The Cardiothoracic and Neurosciences Centre (CNC) in front of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) inaugurated on Monday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, received an overwhelming response from the people on the first day today.

Since morning, people queued at the CN Centre to avail of OPD services. As many as 398 people availed themselves of the OPD service while three out of them were admitted to the centre. State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta also visited the CN Centre and held a review meeting. CN Centre officials, GMCH officials and doctors of the cardiology, cardio surgery and neurology departments were present at the meeting. Mahanta laid stress on ensuring smooth service to the people and cleanliness and maintenance of the CN Centre.

Later talking to media persons, the Health Minister said that the CN Centre would benefit not just the people of Assam but the people of the entire north-eastern region. He said that the CN Centre would provide affordable quality medical care. He added that the government had already appointed Dr Basanta Baishya as the Director of the centre.

This CN Centre addresses specifically the specialities of Cardiology, CTVS, Neurology & Neurosurgery with state-of-the-art facilities, namely dedicated 24x7 functional CathLabs and Pacemaker implantation facilities, dedicated ICUs, Pre-& post-Operative Wards, 7 Modular Operation Theatres, High-End Operative Endoscopy and Neuro Navigation System, Sophisticated heart Lung Machine, 3 Tesla MRI, 256 Slice CT Machine, High-End Neurophysiological Investigations, fully automated dry Chemistry and Hormone Analyser and WIFI-enabled smart building.
