GUWAHATI: A single-judge bench of the Gauhati High Court has given eight weeks’ time, as sought, to the State Government to submit a proposal to solve the issues concerning the boundary (map) of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary (AWS).

According to the order copy of the High Court, on behalf of the official respondents (Forest Department), their counsel submitted before the court that "the map of Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary prepared by the Survey of India includes several institutional areas, and as such, the Government needs some more time to come to a conclusion as regards the area or boundary that would cover the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary".

Accordingly, the government's counsel prayed for more time, and the Court granted eight weeks’ time to submit a proposal for resolving the issue. On the next date, the Forest Department shall come up with the final proposal towards resolution of the issue. The Principal Chief Conservator and Head of Forest Forces, Assam, was also present during the hearing.
