GUWAHATI: The AERC (Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission) has asked the APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd.) to provide time up to January 12 to the stakeholders for submission of their comments on the proposed retail power tariff for the Financial Year 2024-25. The AERC has also asked the APDCL to submit its replies to all comments received from stakeholders by January 22.

Earlier, the APDCL did submit its petition to the AERC for approval to the annual performance review for the financial year 2023-24 and revised aggregate revenue requirement and retail tariff for financial year 2024-25 under the AERC (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Multi Year Tariff) Regulations, 2021.

In its petition to the AERC, the APDCL sought Rs 13,191.66 crore in cumulative revenue requirements for the financial year 2024-25. APDCL proposed a retail sale of 10,678 MU during the financial year 2024-25. Thus, the average cost of supply to recover the entire cumulative amount during the financial year 2024-25 will be Rs 12.35 per unit.

Based on this proposed tariff, a consumer under Jeevan Dhara (up to 45 kWh per month) will have to pay a Rs 40 fixed charge per month and Rs 5.35 per unit.

A domestic consumer below 5 KW consuming up to 120 units per month will have to pay a fixed charge of Rs 70 per month and Rs 6 per unit.

A domestic consumer below 5 KW consuming from 121 to 240 units per month will have to pay a Rs 70 fixed charge per month and Rs 7.35 per unit. If such a consumer consumes more power than 240 units per month, he will have to pay a Rs 70 fixed charge per month and Rs 8.25 per unit for the remaining units.
