GUWAHATI: Candidates of the TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) across the State have expressed their serious concern over the inaction of the SEBA (Secondary Board of education, Assam) even after there have been serious allegations of discrepancies from various sections of the society. A prime charge is that there was a leak of question papers during the day of the examination.

The primary TET examination was held across 587 centres in 27 districts on October 31, 2021. Altogether 3,96,561 candidates appeared in the primary-level TET examination. Of them, 2,30,482 appeared in the 'Lower Primary TET examination; while 1,66,079 were candidates for the 'Upper Primary-level TET' examination.

Significantly, a teacher was arrested in the Cachar District over charges of the question-leak scam at the Lower Primary TET.

In this regard, a candidate said, "We are concerned at the abysmally slow pace of progress of SEBA to institute a probe till date. Jammers were also used by the authorities concerned during the examination period to ensure that candidates cannot use their mobile phones or any other electronic devices during the examination."

Notably, jammers are devices that disrupt the normal signal flow of devices like cell phones, GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers, among others.

He posed, "Against this strict surveillance bandobast, how were question papers leaked?" He demanded, "There should have been a high-level inquiry!"
