BONGAIGAON/KOKRAJHAR: "Good days for Koch-Rajbanshi people are coming soon," said Ananta Ray Maharaj, founder of the Greater Kochbehar People's Association, on Thursday after the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to his house at Chatipur in Chirang.

Shah visited Ananta Ray Maharaj , the priest of the Sib-Chandi religion of the Koch-Rajbanshi community. This was supposedly a private visit of Amit Shah, but according to sources, the visit was supposed to be a political negotiation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Ananta Ray Maharaj, who is very influential among the Koch-Rajbanshis of West Bengal.

Shah stayed in his house for about an hour where several other noted personalities, including State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP's State president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, West Bengal MP Kailash Bargi, and other high officials were present.

After Amit Shah's visit, Ananta Ray Maharaj told media persons that good days for Koch-Rajbanshi people were coming. "I can't disclose anything more at this point of time. But I can say that this government is going to do something great for the Koch-Rajbanshi people," he said.
