GUWAHATI: A Division Bench of the Gauhati High Court has ordered the Assam Government to treat the persons taking care of children staying in juvenile centres as "frontline warriors", and vaccinate them so that they do not pass on the disease to the children under their care.

The order is related to a PIL (24/2020) filed by the Lawyers' Association, Guwahati.

There are as many as 106 registered child care institutions run by the Assam Government and non-government organizations under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 1915 in the State, sources said.

The Bench comprises Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak.
