AGARTALA: Indicating a serious turn, twelve more persons have been found coronavirus positive in Tripura, taking the total number of affected persons to 16 out of which two have been cured and released. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet message informed the people about the latest development and urged not to be panicked as the government is taking all necessary steps.

The twelve persons tested positive are members of 138 Bn BSF and were residing in its camp at Jawahar Nagar in Ambassa of Dhalai district. On Saturday, two jawans of the same camp was found corona positive and is undergoing treatment at GB Hospital in Agartala.

The twelve persons were found positive during a massive swab test undertaken after the two persons of the camp were found positive. The State administration has taken an immediate step and taken them into isolation within the camp itself and treatment is going on there. A team of doctors and para-medical staff has been sent to the camp.

The administration is searching to find out who are the people who came in close contact with the affected people and all will be taken into quarantine. Dr Dep Debbarma, Sate Surveillance Officer said still investigation is going on and did not rule out the possibility of finding a few more affected persons. The district administration has sealed an area of 3 km radius of the camp and none is being allowed to enter the area or coming out of it.

Only seven days ago, the Chief Minister declared Tripura as corona-free after two positive cases got cured but the comfort did not last long. So far, all the cases found in the State are having travel history outside the State and it is presumed that they carry the virus from outside.

The students and migrant workers staying outside the State will start returning within the next two days as the government issued passes. Special arrangement has been made at Churaibari, the only entry point to the state by road to keep all of them into quarantine and swab tests.
