AASU Requests Grocery Shops Not to Jack Up Prices

All Assam Students' Union (AASU) under the initiative of Naharkatiya Regional Students' Union on Saturday initiated a shop-to-shop drive at Naharkatia, requesting the shop owners not to raise prices without a reason.

As per reports, some grocerY shop owners have increased the prices of essential commodities within 24 hours to take advantage of the Covid 19 situation. The prices of essential commodities including potato, onions have risen overnight in Naharkatiya.

Naharkatiya Regional Students' Union members urged the market owners to sell the goods at the price fixed by the administration.

They have taken the initiative so that the general public does not have to suffer.

Speaking to the media, Naharkatiya Regional Students' Union member said, "Some grocery shop owners have increased the prices of essential commodities. We urged them to sell goods at the price fixed by the administration. We also request the administration to monitor this."

Another person said, "Naharkatiya Regional Students' Union has initiated the drive at Naharkatiya in various grocery shops. We request shop owners to sell goods at original prices."
