ACA Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia reacts to Controversies surrounding Sunday's T20 Match

ACA Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia stated that the appearance of a snake during the India- South Africa T20 match provided moments of entertainment and suspense for match- goers as play stopped for a couple of minutes. He also pointed that several such instances of snakes appearing in stadiums had been recorded earlier. While appreciating the prompt action by a groundsman in taking care of the serpentine problem, Saikia blamed two and half years of inaction in the stadium at Barsapara for the incident. Speaking about the problem regarding the floodlights, which went off for some time during the match, Saikia said the lights at the stadium had metal halide lamps which take some time to light up when the circuit is broken. He hoped to replace them with LED lamps in the near future, which will ensure such outages never happen again.
