A day after Lurinjyoti Gogoi, President of Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) announced that they have finalised their tie up with Raijor Dal headed by jailed KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi, the leaders of the two parties came together on Friday (February 5) to formally make the announcement about the alliance ahead of the Assam Assembly elections likely to be held in April. From AJP side president Lurinjyoti Gogoi and general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan were present at the press briefing where the formal announcement was made. Raijor Dal's working president Vasco de Saikia and other senior leaders were present at the media briefing.
On Thursday, AJP president Gogoi and general secretary Bhuyan had met Akhil Gogoi and finalised the alliance. AJP and Raijor Dal would fight the Assam Assembly elections together.
