Biswanath Cong: Where is Bijoya Chakraborty Now?

Amid rising fuel prices, the Biswanath unit of Assam Congress held a protest outside petrol pumps of Biswanath against the gradual rise in prices of petrol and diesel as it is inching towards the 90-100 mark. Congress leaders sought answers from the ruling BJP about the hike in prices even as neighbouring countries are selling fuel at almost half the rate.

"Fuel prices too will reach Rs 100 a litre. We think that is what they are trying to say when they are talking about 100+. (Assam BJP has been saying that the party would win 100+ seats in the upcoming Assam Assembly seats. Assam Assembly has 126 seats). They have to answer the people of Assam, why fuel prices are so high? The BJP had said that when they come to power, they will control prices. When Congress was in power and there was a price rise, Bijoya ji (Bijoya Chakraborty, former BJP MP from Guwahati) took to the streets wearing a onion garland protesting the price hike claiming to be standing with the people and fighting for them. Where is she now? We want answers from Assam CM Sarbanada Sonowal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi," a Congress leader from Biswanath said.

Protests were seen in front of petrol pumps in Digboi. Digboi unit of Congress staged protests in the oil township. Digboi Congress leaders said that the BJP is pushing the common man towards death as they are feeling intense pressure due to rising prices. They urged on the BJP government to consider the plight of the common man and work towards their real development.
