Corruption in GMC? Restaurant Operating from Facility Meant for Passengers

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation had constructed three AC waiting rooms for passengers using the ASTC bus service in Guwahati. But instead of passengers using the facility, the AC waiting room at Pan Bazar is being used by a tea and coffee restaurant. The rightful occupants of the waiting room – the passengers are being forced to stand in the scorching heat while waiting for the bus, while the restaurant is operating from a place which is not meant for it. Apparently, Guwahati Development Department minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, who inaugurated the AC waiting room, had raised objections regarding GMC allowing the restaurant to operate from waiting room meant for the passengers. But so far no action has been taken.
