Donations Pour in For College in Barpeta Road

Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das unveiled the statue of Gonobondhu Mohan Lal Choudhary on Thursday (February 4i). The statue has been set up in the premises of Ganesh Lal Choudhary College, Barpeta Road under the initiative of the college administration. Mohanlal Choudhury had special involvement and financially supported the establishment of the college. The meeting held to mark the unveiling was presided over by president of the College Management Committee, Srijan Nath.

Mohan Lal Choudhary and his family helped a lot to establish the GLC College in 1990. The generosity shown by them in providing assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs at that time is truly exemplary, the committee members said. Sarbhog MLA and Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das contributed Rs 10 lakh from the MLA's fund and Rs 3 lakh from the District Development Fund for the science stream to be started in the college from this year.

President Dr. Ramen Das and Secretary Jugolananda Pathak contributed a cheque of Rs 3 lakh on behalf of Barpeta Road Club. Mamata Saha Das contributed Rs 5 lakh, Shahidul Islam contributed Rs 3 lakh and Sanjay Giri contributed Rs 3 lakh.
